Rental Property Registration & Inspection Program

The City of Elkhart has recently implemented a Rental Registration & Inspection Program to ensure the quality of life for its residents and to promote rental property maintenance and public health and safety. Every Rental Unit and Rental Unit Community in the City of Elkhart, Indiana must be registered and an inspection scheduled for each unit with the Building & Code Department.

You may submit your Rental Registration & Inspection Application online or at the Permit Center. If you are unsure about whether or not you need to register, please contact us at (574)296-9331.

$60.00 ..... Initial Inspection Fee (per unit)

$60.00 ..... First Reinspection Fee (per unit)

$100.00 ... Second or Subsequent Reinspection Fee (per unit)

$75.00 ..... Irregular Inspection Fee (per unit)

$100.00 ... Inspection Cancellation\Rescheduling Fee (less than 48-hour notice) (per unit)
