Community Development

The City of Elkhart's Community Development Department manages the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)'s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and Lead Hazard Reduction Capacity Building Grant (LHRCB) Grant.

These funds are used for activities that provide decent housing, a suitable living environment, fair housing outreach, and economic opportunities for residents, particularly those with low- and moderate-income.

The Community Development Department also partners with local non-profit organizations to improve the physical, economic, and social well-being of the community.
