Sewer Protection

Putting fats, oils, and grease (FOG) down the drain can cause blockages that damage the City's sewer infrastructure and can cause backups. The City of Elkhart is required to operate an industrial wastewater pretreatment program. Part of this program includes making sure that businesses do not put things down the drain that can damage the sewer system or make it difficult for the City of Elkhart to protect the environment.
