The Elkhart Police Department is committed to partnering with our community to safeguard lives and property; to protect the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation, and the peaceful against abuse or disorder; and to respect the constitutional rights of all to liberty, equality, and justice. Through service, protection, knowledge, developing community relationships, and upholding the law we are dedicated to reducing crime, increasing safety, and enhancing the quality of life for all of Elkhart’s citizens and visitors.

To achieve this vision, the Elkhart Police Department will proactively use a two-pronged approach. First, we will continue our commitment to partnering with the citizens of Elkhart and other City departments. Second, we will continue to develop dedicated, well-trained officers and professional staff who will honorably serve to protect all in our community.
