Filing a Report
If the incident you are reporting is an emergency, dial 911 immediately. If you have a non-emergency situation that requires immediate attention, please call our non-emergency line at 574-295-7070.
The Elkhart Police Department offers Online Citizen Reporting for certain incidents that do not require immediate attention. Using this system lets you submit a police report immediately and print a free copy of the report.
Only the following incident types can be reported through the online reporting system:
* Theft offenses (Not involving medications or Firearms). No suspect information.
* Criminal Mischief (Damage to Personal property or vehicles) No suspect information
* Harassment with no suspect information.
* Vandalism with no suspect information.
Please confirm the following to find out if the online incident report is right for you:
* This is not an emergency.
* This incident occurred within the Elkhart city limits.
* There are no known suspects.
* There is not potential evidence to be collected at this time.
