Sustainability

A greener Elkhart

Did you know that the Elkhart Environmental Center (EEC) also serves as the sustainability department for the city of Elkhart? The EEC is home to the city's Sustainability Officer who oversees the city's sustainability initiatives such as our Climate Action Plan (CAP) and Greenhouse Gas Inventory, which can be reviewed on this site as soon as they are available.

The EEC will be working with the administration and department heads to help evaluate the city's current operations and develop sustainability goals moving forward. We're out to save money and become more energy efficient, as a whole. The EEC is leading the way with our solar panels and wind turbine installations (pictured here), which are already saving the city money on electricity!

In addition to working with city staff, it is important to us to get community input. We would love to hear from you! If you have ideas or things you'd like to see the city try out in our efforts to become more energy efficient, let us know!
