Yesterday the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office charged two men with multiple criminal counts in connection with the armed robbery and kidnapping of a 16-year-old male over the weekend.
On March 7, 2026, at about 8:52 p.m., an Elkhart Police Department officer arrived in the area of 415 Waterfall Dr after a male had called 911 and was screaming for help.
Upon arrival, the officer made contact with a 16-year-old male (victim). The victim reported that two unknown male subjects pulled up next to him in an SUV while he was walking on Goshen Ave in the area of Middlebury St (occurring at about 8:35 p.m. that day). He further reported that the male subject(s) pointed guns at him and made him get in the vehicle. They stopped the vehicle near 1 Blazer Blvd and demanded his backpack. He reported one of the male subjects struck him in the head with the handgun and then he (the victim) was able to run away from the vehicle. The victim further reported that the vehicle caught up to him in the parking lot of 415 Waterfall Dr and a male subject snatched his phone from him, smashing it, as he was attempting to call 911. Elkhart Fire Department staff evaluated the victim, who declined further medical attention.
At approximately 10:21 p.m., an officer located a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description in the parking lot of 3406 E Ln, Elkhart, and located men matching the suspects’ descriptions in an apartment at this location. An officer applied for and was granted a search warrant for the apartment. During the execution of the search warrant, officers located and seized a backpack matching the victim’s description, as well as a handgun, suspected marijuana, and suspected THC products. Officers also located and retrieved a second handgun and suspected THC products from the suspect vehicle (a Ford Escape), pursuant to a search warrant for the vehicle.
Two male subjects from the apartment were arrested in connection with this incident. Alvonte Fox, 19 years old of Elkhart, was arrested and booked into the Elkhart County Jail on preliminary charges.
