⚠️ Straight-Line Wind Event: Safety Information & Reporting Resources
There has been a straight-line wind event in the City of Elkhart. We are asking all residents to please stay off the roads and remain indoors as crews work to assess and address the current damage.
At this time, the 911 Call Center is experiencing an extremely high volume of calls. The City of Elkhart asks that non-emergency issues be directed through the appropriate channels so that 911 operators remain available for time-sensitive emergencies. Ensuring the safety of residents is our top priority.
For downed power lines, please report them directly to AEP at:
https://www.aep.com/customer-service/outage/
For downed trees and other storm-related damage that is not immediately blocking a roadway, please report it through the MyElkhart311 app or via the direct link on our website:
https://www.cityofelkhartin.gov/residents-and-services/myelkhart311/#
As always, if you are unsure about the severity of an emergency, it is better to call 911 for guidance.
