The City of Elkhart's Open Community Survey is an online survey that provides residents with the opportunity to share valuable feedback on topics such as public safety, policing, economic development, parks, and more. The survey will help guide decision-making by City leadership and serves as a direct way for Elkhart residents to have their voices heard.

La Encuesta Comunitaria Abierta de la Ciudad de Elkhart es una encuesta en línea que brinda a los residentes la oportunidad de compartir comentarios valiosos sobre temas como la seguridad pública, los servicios policiales, el desarrollo económico, los parques y mucho más. La encuesta ayudará a orientar la toma de decisiones de los líderes de la Ciudad y sirve como una forma directa para que los residentes de Elkhart hagan escuchar sus voces.

The Open Community Survey will close on July 15th.

News Release-Deceased Individual Discovered, Elkhart County Homicide Unit Investigating, 7.6.26

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit is investigating after a body was discovered in the 2800 block of Toledo Rd, Elkhart.

This morning, at about 6:55 a.m., the Elkhart City 911 Communications Center received a 911 phone call reporting a man sleeping next to an apartment building at 2801 Toledo Rd. Elkhart Police Department officers and first responders dispatched and arrived shortly thereafter for a welfare check. Upon arrival, officers observed an unresponsive adult man lying on the ground next to the building. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

At this time, his identity is being withheld pending family notification.  The Elkhart County Homicide Unit was activated, per protocol, and is handling this investigation. This remains an ongoing investigation. Anyone with further information can contact the Homicide Unit at 574-295-2825. Further inquiries regarding the status of the investigation should also be directed to the Homicide Unit.
