News Release-EPD Investigating Shooting, 1100 block of Grant St, 8.24.26

The Elkhart Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that occurred late last night around the 1100 block of Grant St, Elkhart, in which a teenage boy sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Last night, August 23, 2026, at about 10:57 p.m., the Elkhart City 911 Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a shooting with injuries. Elkhart Police Department officers and first responders were dispatched to the 1200 block of Columbian Ave and arrived shortly thereafter. Upon arrival, officers observed a teenage boy with apparent gunshot wounds. Medics transported the victim, 15-years-old, to the hospital for evaluation and treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Officers located a potential shooting scene in the 1100 block of Grant St and collected evidence. No other injuries were reported in connection with this incident.  At this time, there is no further suspect information, and this case remains under investigation.
