News Release-Elkhart Police Department Investigating Car vs. Motorcycle Crash, Co Rd 6, 6.19.26

The Elkhart Police Department is actively investigating a serious bodily injury car vs. motorcycle crash that occurred earlier this afternoon on Co Rd 6, Elkhart.

Today, June 19, 2026, at about 2:11 p.m., the Elkhart City 911 Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a car vs. motorcycle crash with injuries near 25999 Co Rd 6/Johnson St. Elkhart City Police officers and first responders dispatched and arrived at the scene shortly thereafter. Initial investigation indicates a car traveling westbound on Co Rd 6 turned in front of a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Co Rd 6 in an attempt to enter a business parking lot. The motorcycle then struck the car. Elkhart Fire Department medics rendered first aid at the scene and transported the adult male motorcycle driver to the hospital for evaluation and treatment of what appeared to be serious bodily injury. We do not have an update on his condition at the issuance of this release.

The vehicle driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The Elkhart Police Department Crash Reconstruction Team was activated, and this remains an active and ongoing investigation. We will provide further details as we are able to do so.
