News Release-Elkhart Police Department Welcomes Two New Officer Hires, 4.13.26

Mayor Rod Roberson swore in two (2) new Elkhart Police Officers during this morning’s Police Merit Commission Meeting. The hiring of these officers brings the department’s staff to one hundred and twenty-eight (128) of the budgeted one hundred and forty-three (143) officers.

• Patrolman Paul Leonard (#546) is a lateral hire and graduate of the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy. He is a United States Air Force veteran and most recently worked at the Central Arizona College Police Department.
•  Patrolman Nicholas Burden (#547) graduated from Northridge High School and served with the United States Army for several years. He is currently in the Army Reserves and most recently worked at Hawkins Water Tech.
