Elkhart Police Department Hires Two New Officers

Elkhart Police Department Welcomes Two New Officer Hires

Mayor Rod Roberson swore in two (2) new Elkhart Police Officers during this morning’s Police Merit Commission Meeting. The hiring of these officers brings the department’s staff to one hundred and thirty (130) of the budgeted one hundred and forty-three (143) officers.

·         Patrolman Adolfo Avelar (#544) graduated from Elkhart Central High School and most recently worked at Elkhart Community Corrections. He chose the Elkhart Police Department because he wants to make a positive impact in the community where he grew up.

·         Patrolman Gregory Tingstrom (#545) graduated from Elhart Memorial High School. He has always had an interest in law enforcement and also wants to give back to the community where he grew up.

Congratulations new hires and welcome to the EPD family!
